The hallway creaked with a footfall and it was only then Sarah realised the shower had long since stopped running and Ned was on his way back to his roomâand she was still naked. Scanning the floor, she spotted her clothes on the other side of the room.
The door was opening and there was no time to make a dash for her top but there was an old T-shirt of Nedâs on the bed. Grabbing it, she yanked it over her head, pulling it down roughly by the hem just as the door opened and Ned came in backwards, carrying something. Heâd bumped the door open with his backside so that all she saw at first was the damp expanse of a perfect, tanned naked back, covered from the waist down by a fluffy white towel.
Turning, his grin on seeing her awake was instant.
âGood morning, sleepyhead,â he said as he nodded towards the tray heâd laid out with huge round cups of steaming coffee and hot buttered toast. âI brought refreshments.â
She barely glanced at the tray she was so enamoured by the vision he presented in daylight. Perfection from head to toe, and she knew from first-hand experience that beneath the towel the theme of perfection continued unabated.
He took her breath away and she could only think, This is it, Iâve died and gone to heaven. A heaven where men were tall and strong, had not an ounce of spare flesh, and had unblemished skin that stretched tightly over muscle and sinew. His muscles flexed as he laid the tray down on the table next to his side of the bed. Stepping away, he grabbed a pair of boxer shorts from a chest of drawers, then, still with his back to her, dropped his towel, giving her a glimpse of yet more perfection. He had a backside so gorgeous it was all she could do not to launch herself over the covers and sink her teeth into its flesh. Sitting down on the bed, apparently unaware the mere sight of him was enough to send her over the edge, he slid first one leg then the other into the shorts, then stood to ease them up until he was covered and she found herself able to breathe normally again.
Now he lay back on the bed and rolled onto his side, until he was resting on one elbow. His grin was so full of mischief and satisfaction she again felt the flames fan the glow of hope that had burned so bright in her last night. With his brown hair tousled and damp he resembled nothing so much as an adorable, life-loving, warm, fluffy, playful puppy.
And then the next moment these thoughts were banished as he muttered, âCome here, you,â and tugged on the hem of the T-shirt, his T-shirt, pulling her down to him from where she still sat, hugging her knees. She knew her lips had parted the moment heâd reached out for her. Her body was responding now on its own, separate to any conscious input from her.
